Ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has sued Assin Central NPP Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong and is seeking reliefs including general damages for libel against the lawmaker.
According to the writ of summons available to Peacefmonline.com, the Plaintiff’s claim is for:
a) General Damages for libel contained in the defendant’s publications indorsed on the writ of summons by way of an attachment and particularized in paragraphs 5,6,7, and 8 of the statement of claim.
b) Aggravated damages arising from libel published by the defendant of the plaintiff in the sum of Twenty-Five Million cedis (Ghc 25,000,000.00)
c) Costs, including lawyers’ fees.
According to Anas’ Lawyer, Kissi Adjabeng, the MP who is currently in China on a business trip will be served with the suit on his return to the country.
It will be recalled that in the lead-up to the premiere of Anas’ #Number12: ‘When Greed and Corruption Become the Norm‘ exposé on Ghana football on last Wedesday, June 6th, Ken Agyapong descended heavily and criticized the investigative journalist on media platforms belonging to him as well as others and accusing him of alleged corrupt acts in his operations.
He strongly held the view that Anas’ method of investigation is wrong because he lures his victims into a trap.
He also accused Anas of being corrupt and even vowed to unmask Anas and has even shared some photos of a man he claimed is Anas.
To him, Anas sets his victims up to take bribes with the aim to destroy their reputation.
