The member of parliament for Akatsi North, and a leading member on parliament’s Education Committee; Honourable Peter Nortsu – Kotoe, has stated that Ghana Education Service is on the edge of re-introducing fees at the basic school level which contradicts the constitution.
This fees are likely to commence from the next academic year which begins this September.
“The information we are gathering bow is that the GES is about to introduce payment of fees and levies at the basic level”.
“This is in contradiction of the constitution that is why the capitation grant was introduced.
So if that money is released to them regular, why should there be another introduction of fees”. He stated.
The new levies and fees will include fees for examination and PTA; with sports, sanitation and others.
